THE YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME: This years overall winner of the Rotary Club of Wicklow Youth Leadership Competition was Odhrán O’Reilly from ETSS, who was commended for his achievement and presented with a silver trophy.
The Annual Rotary Club of Wicklow Youth Leadership Awards took place in Wicklow Golf Club.
The Rotary Youth Leadership Competition is aimed at Transition and Fifth Year students who compete locally with the winner going on to represent Wicklow in an All Ireland Final in Kilkenny where the winning students have an opportunity to visit and address the European Parliament in Strasburg.
The competition is school based with students initially submitting written applications, followed by interviews. This year saw entries from Dominican College, Wicklow, Educate Together Secondary School, Avondale Community College, Dominican Convent, East Glendalough and Colaiste Chill Mhantain. The standard was exceptionally high and on presenting the awards Rotary President Joe Roberts complemented the students on their endeavours and by entering the Youth Leadership competition they were identifying themselves as future leaders.
