Wicklow Rotary in conjunction with Coillte, undertook the restoration of benches on the Seamus Heaney trail in the Devils Glen Forest. The initiative was completed in can junction with the involvement of students and staff from the Technological University of Dublin.
Wicklow Rotary member Donal Magner led this project and subsequently prepared a wonderful new booklet to accompany the walkers to one of Wicklow’s most dramatic and secluded forest trails. The Devils Glen not only offers stunning views but also includes the 12 restored benches, each engraved with an extract from the works of Seamus Heaney. The new booklet is designed to provide a poetic commentary chosen by Seamus Heaney in 2006 to accompany the trail
The wife of the late poet, Marie Heaney, attended the recent launch of Donal Magner’s booklet held at the Ashford Community Centre.
